My name is Melody Safavi. I’m a singer-songwriter, best known as the lyricist and co-founder of ABJEEZ, a Persian fusion band that dares to mix humor with rebellion. Our music brings together Persian soul with reggae, rock, ska, and flamenco, an unconventional blend that’s become our own take on world pop.
Away from the spotlight, I’m an artist of words and images at heart. Life has carried me across continents and through different cultures, each leaving its mark and shaping how I express myself. Displacement has been both a challenge and a gift, it’s given me a wider lens on the world and a deep need to create art that speaks to belonging, connection, and the human experience we all share.
With my solo project, MELODE (the name I’m called at home) music has turned into a more personal journey. It’s where I explore who I am as a woman moving between different, sometimes conflicting, worlds. My songs are bridges, to memories, emotions, and questions that can’t always be explained in words. I write mainly in Persian, but the sound carries echoes of everywhere I’ve lived and everything that has shaped me.
